SPIRITED FIGHTS SEEN AT MIDDLESEX BOXING Devine's Perserverance Rewarded With Good Win

HANDS
EXCELLENT SPORT and some very good fights were witnessed at Shamshuipo yesterday at the boxing tournament of the Middlesex Regiment and several titles changed hands.
Perry and Fredman were seen in one of the best fights of the evening and both were congrat ulated by the referee at the conclusion of the fight. There were several knockouts during the after- noon while several bouts were not held owing to medical reasons.

afternoon was spent at the Annual Command Cross Country runs which started and finished

It was the first occasion that a British Units Team had won the Garrison Challenge Cup for Cross Country for a long time.
This year the competition was split to two separate runs, one i for British Personnel,

Royal Scots and Royal Engineers had a hard game in which the Engineers emerged winners by
three points to nil.

This was one of the hardest fights of the competition which started off at a fast pace which was kept throughout.
Pies, Hughes and Andrews kept hard at it all the three rounds, and if one of them had landed a hard punch in the last round the other would have certainly gone out for the count.

This light did not last long with L/Cpl. Milroy knocking out Pte. Storr in the first round.
Third String
Pte. Fearson, the Battalion foot- balter, soon finished his fight with Ple. Robertson by winning through a knockout in the first round.
The last fight of the con.peti- tion between Drum Major Hold- ford and Pte. Geist resulted in a win for Holdford who knocked out Geist in the second round.
