MASS NAZI RAID ON MALTA

A big German air al- tack on Malta was made on Wednesday, according to an official Cairo com- munique, which says that a considerable force enemy aircraft attempted a large-scale attack.

Forty German bombers, escort- ed by nearly as many fighters, at- tacked the aerodrome at Luga and some damage WHS caused R.A.F. property, but there were no casualties to R.A.F. personnel. British fighters, although greatly outnumbered, attacked the chemy and two Junkers 87's were shot down and a number of uthers. probably destroyed.

Italians Not Yet Told

It was pointed out in official circles in London yesterday that Italians have not yet been told of the heavy defeat in the fall of Mogadiscio.

Official comment on the descrip- tion in the Italian communique of the Malta attack points out that it makes no reference to the fiets given in the Malta commumque that the attackers lost two planes to British fighters and five to A.A. fire, while six were so badly dan aged that they probably dai nat reach their bases.-Reuter
