LONDON TO-DAY A MINIATURE

EUROPE

"WE HAVE HERE in London a miniature Eu- rope and we wish consequently to adjust the law of our country to meet the international character of our capital," declared Mr. R. A. Butler, Under- Secretary for Foreign Affairs, in moving the second reading of the Diplomatic Privileges Bill in the House of Commons yesterday.

The Bill proposes, said Mr. Butler, to confer a positions corresponding to that of members of the Diplomatic Corps upon the members and senior of- ficials of the Allied Governments of Poland, Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Pro- visional Czechoslovak Government, as well as lead- ers and senior officials of the Free French movement established in Britain.

The British and other Govern- ments will agree upon the names of individuals affected and the list will be published in tir London Gazette.

V.C.'s HEROIC PILOT KILLED

THE OFFICER who piloted the blazing R.A.F. 'plane in which Sergeant Hannah won the V.C., and who was awarded the D.F.C. for his own bravery, has been killed as the result of operations over enemy territory.

He was Pilot Officer Clare Arthur Connor, and Sergeant Hannah said he would never fly with anyone else.
