On the eve of the Senate debate to the Lease and Lend Bill the the Vice-President, Mr. Henry Wallace, revealed the receipt of a-petition signed by 150 leading educators, actors. writers and churchmen appealing to President Roosevelt to make the United States "not only the arsenal but the larder of Democracy" by rush- ing food to Britain,
