BOMBER R.A.F. SUCCESSFULLY SHOT DOWN AN ENEMY FIGHTER BY NIGHT—AN UNUSUAL FEAT~ 18 DESCRIBED BY THE SER. GEANT AIR GUNNER.
"We were on our way back from bombing Hamburg. Two anti-air- craft shells had hit us, but the aircraft was still in good shape. Over Bremerhaven the search- lights caught us but there was no attempt to renew the anti-air- craft fire. Very soon we saw why they were letting us alone.
"An Me. 109 was coming for us from behind the searchlight beam, I and when I saw it there was only us.

NURSE KILLED IN HOSPITAL
A nurse was killed in a large hospital, one of the buildings. hit when a raider dropped two salvos of bombs on a town in the home counties.
One of the private houses de- stroyed was occupied by Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Brush, who were buried in the debris.
When rescue parties got them out, Mrs. Brush was dead, Her husband was taken to hospital.
When a bomb. hit a house in an outlying district, Mrs. Hall was killed, but her husband, Mr. J.. Hall, who was apparently sleeping in the next room, escaped unin- jured.
His bedroom was tilted outwards and he was able to climb down over the debris.
