ON HIS

PAINFUL DUTY

Evidence that Mr. Her- bert Metcalfe, the, well- known Old Street, Lon- don, Magistrate, who died following a fall, was un- der the influence of drink at the time, was given at the inquest. A verdict of "Accidential death" was recorded.

The South Bucks Coroner. Mr J. Baily Gibson, said "I am afraid 1 is evident that Mr Metcalfe came home under the mener of aleuhol, and that while he was left
