Later Mr. Willkie SAW the Labour Minister, Mr. Ernest Ba- VRL

GERMANY

MUST NOT RETURN

"The return of Ger- many to the African con- tinent would mean the

end of the independence and security of all African states," declared the Bel- gian Minister for Colonies, M. de Vleeschauwer, at Capetown yesterday.

He arrived in Capetown from Belgian Congo on Sunday and will teave for the north again on Thursday.

During his brief stay he will have talks with General Smuts on questions affecting the mutual interests of South Africa and Bel- Pian Congo, including trade rela- tions. Reuter.

RECONSTRUCTION AFTER THE WAR

on

The need to concentrate winning the war should not stand n the way of peaceful prepara- tion to meet new conditions that will come with peace, said Sir Ramaswamy Mundaliar, Com- merce Member of the Govern- ment of India, opening the second Labour Conference at New Delhi yesterday.

He said that when the war was over tremendous problems of re- .construction were bound to arise and it would be wise to seek a solution even now instead of ac- cumulating until peace was rès- tored. -Reuter,
