The raid was carried out dui-
night ing Wednesday/Thursday by bombing 'planes of the R.A.F. A heavy explosion was follow- ed by a large fire in the north- west hangar as the first British 'plane swooped over.
The fire burnt fiercely for some time and was visible 50 miles away. It also assisted the other British 'planes to identify their targets.
Another large fire was start- ed among administrative build- ings near the east hangar, where several 'planes were seen to be on fire.
Explosions were caused among many 'planes parked along the southern boundary of the aero- drome.
All our 'planes returned safely from what the R.A.F. justifiably calls "this successful operation."
