Announcing this, the Eire Department of External Affairs yesterday said: "Fragments of explosive and incendiary bombs dropped at the Curragh, Julianstown, Muleek and Borris have been examined and were found to be of German origin.

"The Charge d'Affaires in Berlin has been instructed to make an energetic protest to the German Government against the violation of Irish territory by German aircraft and the loss of life and destruction of property which re- sulted from bomb explosions and fire.
