The first match of the series was played as per schedule day. It was between First Division and Second Division, and resulted in a win for Second Division by Po less than 166 m, the scores being as follows:

Evans of Second Division was easily the top-scorer of the match, with 297. followed closely by Fierce, also of Second Division, with 281.
The remaining players on both sides were mediocre und only averaged from about 75 pins to 43 pins per game. Nevertheless the match produced a good deal of interest and keenness.
