The match was evenly contested, throughout, but the Combined team were on top in the first 15 minutes of play on resumption, during which they scored two quick goals to secure the victory. Luckhurst played a steady game in defence for the winners, spoil- ing effectively. Ryan distinguish- ed himself in the pivotal position; being impressive both in his in- terventions and in distribution, while Sullivan and Hobson were the outstanding forwards.
For the losers, Clarke was safe between the sticks and could not
be blamed for the two goals scored against him. Williamson was the better back, while Holden held his own in their intermediate line. -
McDowell was very dangerous in the circle in the first half, but dropped out of the picture after the interval, while Gothurd play ed an all-round, speedy game on the left-wing.
Pony Nos, 9 and 25, belonging to Rustic and Cheung and Wo, res- pectively, were galloping 10- Bether, and when caring the 1-1/2 mile post, the former bored 321 out towards the rails, uver which 21-0 it jumped, to be followed by pony McDowell opened the scoring at 21-4 No. 25. Both riding bays came
