BOMBS

When two bombs fell in the back garden of houses in a Lon- don suburb, the police and war- dens ordered the evacuation of nearly 1,000 people from the neighbourhoood as it was thought the bombs had not exploded.

Examination by military ex- perts revealed that the bombs. had exploded underground and the people, some of them still in their nightclothes, · were later permitted to return home.

·HONG KONG ROTARY Club is now launching an appeal for funds which will be devoted to the purchase of ambulances and Mobile canteens. Functions Planned

It is not however, the policy of Rotary to take full responsibility for any particular social service, It can initiate and give generous support, but it also seeks the cooperation of the general public in such work.

It is proposed therefore to hold several functions which will be open to those who sympathise with the objects of the joint scheme.
