of Commons yesterday the Home Secretary, Mr. Herbert Morrison, said: "Any allega- tions of deliberate and cruel persecution by Government of internees would be utterly un- founded.
"There has been some delay in the order of release and the actual release of internees in the early stages."
Mr. Morrison assured the House he would like to get the delay. between the 'announcement of re- lease and actual release down to a fortnight or ten days.
He had found no trace in the Civil Service of any spiteful or vindictive feelings towards in- ternees,

Present Position
About 8.000 aliens had been re- leased and of 19;500 still interned there were about 4,000 against whom there was evidence that they were definitely unfriendly.
In sifting those still interned consideration was to be given to skilled workers.
His is Chester's first D.F.C. When his father, Mr. James Størrar, veterinary surgeon, visit- ed him at his station he asked what was in a letter lying on a table.
"Oh, that's only the D.F.C." replied Jimmy.
Referring to internees sent to Canada, some of whom had been "sent abroad wrongly," a special responsible adviser was going to Canada to select suit- able applicants for pioneers,
