Should a person carrying a pa- per be killed or injured in an air raid, the hospital or other authorl- ty receiving the casualty will no- tify the Admiralty, War Office, or Air Ministry.

It the man concerned is serving [19] at home, he will be informed at once and given a short period of compassionate leave if circum- stances justify it and service con- ditions permit. If he is serving abroad he will be notified by tele- graph at the public expense.

Near relatives of sailors, sol- diers, and airmen are advised to let one or two other members of their family or neighbours, or, failing these, the local representa- tive of the Soldiers', Sailors', and Airmen's Families Association, know that they are carrying a slip of this kind, and to give them the particulars on it.

If the slip were lost or destroy- ed at the time of the casualty in- formation sent to the Admiralty; War Office, or Air Ministry by a friend would be acted upon by the Department, but such information would have to be verified before being passed on to the man con- cerned, and some delay would be unavoidable.

Officially recorded next of kin of all Royal Naval and Royal Marine personnel (including mobile members of the Women's Royal Naval Service) will soon be sent an official card on which the essential particulars are to be re- corded. They should, however, pending receipt of this card, det as instructed.
