A superabundance of moisture is contained in this rich cream. It won't dry on your face. Applied with -the fingers, it quickly softens each whisker. A protective layer is formed over which your razor glides. Or comes each hair at the base without scraping. Like a cold cream, Glider helps keep your skin amooth all day. Glider is the result of nearly 100 years' experience in making fine shaving preparations.

FREE CHINA'S TRADE for the first nine months of this year showed a favourable balance of $84,247,000, according to statistics released in Chungking.

Exports for this period amounted to $120,539,- 000, while imports totalled $35,292,000.

One reason for this favourable trade balance is that the Burma Road remained open for China exports, while it was closed for three months to her imports.

Mengte and Ningpo were the most active ports of Free China during the first nine months.

Concerning trade in the whole of Free and Occupied Chino, Im- ports amounted to $1,558,606,000, as against $1,447,521,000 for ex- ports, showing an unfavourable balance of $111,085,000.

Shanghai was again the busiest port of China, importing $615,197,- 000 worth of goods and exporting $984,192,000.

Tientsin was second, with im- ports totalling $490,279,000 and exports $105,391,000.

Japan's Share

Japan led the countries export- ing to China, with $306,840,000 or 23.54 per cent. Japan's exports were confined to the occupied

areas.

The United States was second, with $334,189,000, or 21.44 per cent. The United States led the countries importing from North China, with $414,404,000 or 28.63 per cent.

Last year, in the same period, China sold only. $122,066,000 worth of goods to America.

Hong Kong was the chief port through which exports from Free China passed, no less than $287,- 508,000 worth of goods being ship- ped, from the Colony. Havas. ・・

LONDON'S "STEEL CURTAIN"

London's curtain of steel put up nightly by the new A. A. barrage is vividly described by Ned Russell, an American jour- nalist, in a cable to U.S. newspa- -pers.

After he had seen an anti-air- craft battery in the Thames Es- tuary at work, he wrote:-

"Once a young officer beside me said: "There are about forty- five tons of little pieces of steel up there now. God help anybody near them.'
