THE LOGIC OF AXIS-TOKYO ALLIANCE

"M. MOLOTOV'S VISIT to Berlin is the logical outcome of the evolution of the Euro- pean situation and the signing of the tri- partite pact," says an official statement handed to foreign journalists at the German Foreign Office yesterday, according to the French Wireless.

The statement continues: In view of the new situation created by developments of the war and the Berlin-Rome-Tokyo alliance, it becomes necessary to define positively and clearly the position of the Soviet.

"M. Molotov's visit has the fol- lowing aims:

"Secondly, to re-consider, from the point of view. of more extensive collaboration, the bases of the German-Soviet Agreement."

The statement adds: "In the pre- sent circumstances, M. Molotov's visit is particularly significant be- cause it proves that developments in Europe, notably the signing of the tri-partite pact, has in no way affected the perfect realisation by both Moscow and Berlin of their respective and common interests.
