British shipyard workers are working day and night bulid- ing ships specially designed for wartime conditions, and an ever increasing number of epsoíal-type merchant ships aro being launched without ceremony. Naw, when all is ready and the last blocks are knocked away, a whistle is blown, an axe falls on a cord and the ship slides down the slipway into the water, watched, only by a handful of men necessary for the successful launching.Directly the ship is safely launched, the slipway is prepared for the next ship to take its place. Photo shows three fenipyard-workers giving a cheer, i as the "Empire. Veice", another addition to Britain's merchant flest, is about to take the water on her launch. (Copyright, Fox).
