An East Dereham (Norfolk) greengrocer, Mr. Robert Ellis, was mazed to find a handbag contain- ing 300 £1 notes wrapped in sacks, which had been on his stall in Dereham Market.

He took the money to Dereham Police Station, where he learned that it was the life savings of Mr, and Mrs. James Edwards, of Webster's Cottages, Yaxham Road, East Dereham.
