HOW STANCE VARIES
BY BEST BALL
A player's position in re- gard to the ball varies in a graduated scale from tee to pin. On the longer tee shots, where power is important the golfer stands further from the ball and his feet are separated by a space approximating the width of the shoulders. Such a stance allows a full wind- up and maximum hitting velocity, consistent with the accuracy desired.
For the shorter shots the feet-are brought closer to- gether and the body nearér the ball. Here a premium is paid an accuracy and this can be better accomplished by using an upright swing, which requires closer proximity to the ball: A guide to the cor- :rect position is given by a graduated set of clubs-suited- to the player. 7 The player 'should stand naturally so that these clubs have their soles flat on the turk neither the heels nor the toes of the club- head raised.
