"HURRY home at noon", Mother would tell us youngsters. "There'll be a good hot lunch waiting for you." Mother was a great believer in the powers of wholesome food to solve most problems of life. "No excuse for poor marks after that lunch”, she'd say.

And she spoke more truly even than she kafew. Food authorities tell us that children need a well balanced, nourishing meal at noon, preferably with some hot food. Only then can children be expected to study well. A good lunch renewa their vitality and helps keep them alert for the afternoon's work.

The hot food may well he soup- nourishing, and easy to prepare. Or It can be a simple casserole. For instance:
