THE TWO-DẠY Chinese Swimming Champion- ships meet, sponsored by South China Athletic Asso- ciation, Chinese Bathing Club and Chinese "Y" was well-supported and was brought to a satisfactory. conclusion during the week-end. Aided by a fairly strong current, some fantastic times were returned, Miss Ho Wai-king's 30 seconds for fifty metres, being-- outstanding. This is even lower than the Far East- ern record, In the two nights' swim six individual National records and one relay time were lowered, and apart from the two 50 metre records establish- ed, official recognition is hoped to be obtained.
Hoi Tin Swimming team, comprising the East- ern and Chung Shing sprinters easily won the team Championship for men with a total of 90 points, fol- lowed by Lai Tsun with 54 points. Chinese Bathing Club was only able to obtain five points, through Chan Man-por's second place in the 200 metres breast-stroke.
The Ladies' team Champion- With the exception of Miss Ho ship, which was more evenly Wai-king, the Chinese Bathing contested was won by South Club fielded a team of novices, China, mainly through the efforts and although finishing third they of their strong breast-strokers, gave a very creditable perform- namely Misses Lee Po-luen, Ho ance. As usual, South China had Wai-man, and Ngan Suet-yee, a team of four breast-strokers. Miss Au Mei-chuen, who was also

Of the six to qualify for the men's 200 metres breast-stroke, only Fung Wal-cheung,. Chan Man-por and Тви Kam-mun started. Fung, Wai-cheung fin- ished first in 3 mins, 13 secs. but was disqualified by a 5-1' vote, for encroaching on a (va- cant lane; his win was even- tually allowed on a re-con- sideration.
