James H. Barton, elder son of Sir Sidney Barton, and an officer attached to the British Consulate- General in Shanghai, died suddenly this morning.

He had been suffering, from, a cold. and on Tuesday evening, had to wade home through: three feet of, flood water caused by the typhoon. He collapsed on Wed- nesday with a severe cold and art infected throat, from which he died.
