A consignment of 110 bars of silver found on board a Butter- field and Swire ship on Wednes- day by the Chief Preventive Officer. of the Company, Mr. J. Mooney, resulted in Lee Fat, 39, described as a boarding house runner, being charged before Mr. E. Himsworth at Kowloon Magistracy this morn- ing. with possession of unmani- fested cargo, and with exporting. silver without a written permit from the Export Import Office.
Mul Chuen-chu, ~ 37, boarding' house foki, was accused of aiding and abetting Lee Fat.
Inspector A. S. Johnson, of the Water Police, applied for a week's remand which was granted.
Accused were allowed bail of $4,000 and $100 respectively. The silver was valued at $3,800.
BARRACKS THEFT
Lau Chun-ming, 21 was ordered to be expelled from the Colony, as a destitute, by Mr. H. G. Shel- don, K.C., at, the Central Magis- tracy this morning. He was con- victed of stealing a wrist watch and a packet of cigarettes, from Private Wright at Victoria Bar- racks yesterday.
