SOMEBODY APPEARS TO BE WRONG

Reuter's diplomatic cor- respondent learns from authoritative quarters in London that the impres- sion created abroad that the negotiations between the French authorities in Indo-China and the Jap- anese Government are pursuing a smooth course: are not confirmed by the facts.

The Germans and Japanese seem particularly anxious to per- suade the world that the negotia- tions are continuing in the inost friendly manner and it is possible. discussions are proceeding, be-. 'tween the French Ambassador in Tokyo and the Japanese Govern- ment, but it is now known negotiations were broken off by the men on the spot in Indo-China after the temporary violation of the frontier by Japanese troops.

Whether or not the negotiations have been since resumed on the spot is not certain.

The correspondent adds there is no confirmation of any viola- tion of the frontier by Chinese. troops and these.reports have al- ready been denied by the Chung- king Government-Reuter.
