Another landslide tragedy has occurred in the Taipo District where eight railway labourers were buried alive early this morning.

At the time of going to press, rescue workers were digging feverishly to reach and extract the bodies of the unfortunate men in the hope of rescuing some alive,

It is learned that some 100 workers were assigned this morning to clear the railway line on the south side of the Taipo Tunnel which was blocked following landslide on Saturday morning. At 7.40 a.m., the top of the hillside came crumbling down on top of the workers.

The majority managed to get clear but some 15 were caught under the avalanche of earth and rocks.
