THE present evacuation measures have completed what the rain has been trying to accomplish for the last two months
Disorganisation and, if sport was rapidly reaching a state of disorganisation be- fore, it is infinitely worse now.
I cannot see how the various divi- sions of the Lawn Tennis League can possibly be completed. It is an almost incredible fact that a solitary match, between I.R.C. and University, is the sum total of all Senior Division games played since the season started.
To lesser degrees, but still consider- ably, the remaining divisions have also suffered through postpone- ments, and, with compulsory military training.now enforced, further difficul- ties have arisen.
In light of recent events also, it is extremely difficult to settle down to the even tenor of our hitherto hum- drum existance and such comparative- ly unimportant matters as postponed sports fixtures do not arouse official- dom as it might have done as recent- ly as a month ago.
When most members of the fair sex have been evacuated, however, I feel that there will be something of a re- action. If Volunteer duties do take up a great deal of time previously utilised for sport, absence of domestic ties at home will mean that the men of this Colony will seek to distract themselves

from the many new worries they have acquired by good healthy recreation, and, for this reason if for no other, I trust that every effort will be made to keep organised sport on a sound basis as long as it is possible to do so.

THE race for the local baseball cham- pionship has now narrowed down to only three clubs, with Mindanao and Chung Hwa in the most favourable position, hav ing lost only once each, against H.B's two defeats.

In spite of much that has been said of the falling off of form of H.B, this season, there is no doubt that they are a still force to be reckoned with and can
at all times fully extend the strongest in the League.
H.B. have still to meet Chinese and Mindanao in the return games and, if they win all these fixtures, will earn the right to play off for the title, with one of the other teams, which will probably be the winner of the Chung, Hwa and Mindinao tussle.
The present poor form of the H.B. team as compared to last year when they played under the colours of U.B., must be attributed to lack of practice,
