THERE has been a complete 'hold-up of all Army sports during the past few days, mainly due to the wet weather, which has for one
thing made the Army tennis courts còm- .pletely unplayable. The weather, however, has 'not

ON A RAIN SODDEN GROUND Eastern beat the Cus- toms Club, Rangoon League champions, by four goals to one after sharing two goals at the interval.
GOOD

ENVISAGED
By "Adrem" Owing to the fact that Bath, at which they entertained the Chung Shing Bathing Club Victoria Recreation Club gave some are unable idea of the ability of the Army swim-
to field a team mers. Generally speaking there is room against Victoria Recreation for a big improvement all round, but Club. to-morrow, the swim- the Royals have
some useful talent, especially in Lieut. Buchanan, who
swam a length (33-1/3 yards) of the Army bath in 19 seconds, which is, I understand, exceptionally good time. With practice Lieut. Buchanan," will, no doubt, be able to improve on this. As far as water polo is concerned the Army teams are far below the standard of civilian clubs in the Colony, with perhaps the exception of 5th A.A. Regt., who have put up some pretty good displays in the water already this year.

Hau Ching-to, the Colony left winger, was in great form and was the most dangerous forward on the feld. He left the opposition standing on many occasions and registered a "hat trick."
The Eastern full backs, Ng Kee- cheong and N. Z. Lee were in great form and were responsible in keeping the attacking forwards out in the first half when Rangoon did most of the attacking.
John Chye, recruited in Singa. pore played a sound game at right half, while another player to shine was Tsao Chau-ting, at inside left. The home team opened the score but
The refereeing was bad and a crowd of 15,000 was present.
Eastern were represented by:-Lau Hing- hon; N. Z. Lee and Ng Kee-cheong; John Hsu King-seng and Lo Wai-kuen; Chye, Chung Yung-sum, Chang Kam-hol, Hsu Man- fui, Tsoi Chau-ting and Hau Ching-to.

-FOLLOWING the publicity given in this column to the table tennis match at the Cheero Club between the Royal Army Table Tennis Service Corps and the Royal Army Pay Corps, it has been suggested that a league should be formed for this game, which at the present time is very popular with the Squaddies. It appears that most of the units view the idea favourably, so there should not be much difficulty in putting a league into operation, provided some- one is willing to take the initiative.
