France Signs Armistice With Italy HOSTILITIES
END AT MIDNIGHT
BORDEAUX, TO-DAY.
THE FRENCH GOVERNMENT HAS DECIDED TO INSTRUCT GENERAL HUNTZIGER TO SIGN THE ARMISTICE WITH ITALY. THE DECISION WAS TAKEN BY THE COUNCIL OF MINISTERS YESTERDAY AFTERNOON. In Rome, the following announcement, announcing the Franco-Italian
armistice, was subsequently made:-

"The Italian Government has notified the French Government that signature of the armistice terms between France and Italy was communi- cated to the German Government at 7.35 p.m.

p.m. G.M.T.) to-day. "Consequently hostilities will cease at 1.35 Italian summer time to-morrow (Tuesday) morning, June 25, 1940, the 18th year of the Fascist era.

The Council of Ministers met at 8 o'clock yesterday morning to study the Italian armistice terms. The 'Council adjourned at 8.45 a.m. and resumed the meeting at 9.30.
The Council met again at 5 o'clock in the afternoon the deliberations last- ing two and a half hours. It was at this meeting that the Italian terms were accepted.-Havas.
Hostilities Cease
Berlin, To-day. The German High Command an- nounced yesterday it had ordered the cessation of hostilities with France as from 11.35 p.m. (G.M.T.) last night,

London, To-day. Mr. Winston Churchill is expected to make a statement in the House of Commons to-day (Tuesday) of Government's view of the German armistice terms accepted by Marshal Petain's Government.-Reuter.
