REVELATIONS IN DUBLIN "SPY" TRIAL

DUBLIN, TO-PAY.

A CODÈ ALLEGED TO HAVE BEEN FOUND IN A DUBLIN HOUSE WAS MENTIONED IN A DUB- LIN COURT YESTERDAY WHEN STEPHEN CAR- ROLL HELD APPEARED UNDER THE EMER- GENCY POWERS ACT AND OFFENCES AGAINST THE STATE.

The offences are alleged to have included conspir- ing with unknown persons to usurp the func- tion of government by maintaining an armed force styling itself the Irish Republican Army and obtaining on behalf of that force $20,000.

The Ministry stressed the necessity for sharp curtailment in expenditure to prevent serious inflation. It has been proposed that only non-military appropriations be cut, such as those for the Education, Home, Justice and Welfare Ministries, but it is pointed out such reductions could be only of small consequence as about half of the 6,000,000,000 yen in the general budget consists of military appropria- tions.

The Miyako believes the Govern- ment may eventually succeed in cut- ting the budget by demanding a uni- form percentage of reductions and eliminating, funds considered to be non-essential-Havas,
