The report that M. Jean Chiappe, French Deputy. and former Police Commissioner of Paris, has been ap- pointed Governor of Paris by the Germans is entirely inaccurate.

M. Chiappe has been elected Chair- man of the Paris Municipal Council by an unanimous vote by the Coun- cillors who remained in Paris follow- ing the German occupation of the capi- tal-Havas.

GERMAN RAID ON BORDEAUX

'Bordeaux, To-day.. Over 100 German bombers carried out a heavy raid on this town on Wednesday night, and according to an American correspondent's estimate, there were 60 casualties.

High-explosive and incendiary bombs were dropped on the city, aerodromes, docks and shipping. Reuter.

THE SECRET SESSION

London, To-day. Before the House of Commons went into secret session yesterday, Mr. Cle- 'ment Attlee, Lord Privy Seal, said that it would be undesirable to con- tinue the debate on the morrow, but if members wanted another day it would be possible to arrange it.

There will be a debate on the Min- istry of Supply next Thursday, and Mr. Attlee said that if the House de- sires it, part of that debate may be held in secret--Reuter.

The House of Lords went into se- cret session on the subject of home defence yesterday afternoon; there was á very large attendance. The Com- mons went into session at 4 p.m.
