The Supreme Presidium of the U.S.S.R. has ratifled the treaty of commerce and na- vigation with Yugoslavia and the supplementary protocol signed in Moscow on May 11. Meanwhile it is expected that a Rus- sian trade delegation will be despatch- ed to Belgrade around June 15.

Yugoslavia is likely to extend Russia formal de jure recognition shortly.

Among candidates for the post of first Yugoslav Minister to Moscow are M. Shumenkovich, Minister 'to Turkey, and General Maximovich, Inspector-General of the Yugoslav

army.

Yugoslav recognition of the Soviet would inevitably mean certain changes in the Belgrade Cabinet. One of these changes may be the entrance into the Cabinet of M: Jorjovich, former Fin- ance Minister. Havas.

PICKED UP WHARF PASS IN STREET -

Charged with stealing cotton yarn, and trespassing in a prohibited area, Lan Ching, 20, was sentenced to six weeks' hard labour by Mr. E. Him- sworth this morning.

The yarn was found in his possession when he was searched near the en- trance of the Kowloon wharf. Accused had used a pass he picked up in the street.
