TROOP YOUNG SOLDIERS
ITALIAN MOVEMENTS CREATE ALARM
(SPECIAL TO" CHINA MAIL")
ROME, TO-DAY.
THE GENERAL IMPRESSION NOW IS THAT ITALY WILL PROBABLY ENTER
THE WAR ON THE SIDE OF GERMANY AROUND JUNE 6. The whole country is gripped by the war fever and military preparations are
being rushed to completion; reservists are being called up individually.
Civilians are evacuating the cities while bellicose de-
monstrations are taking place constantly.
HIGH POLICE A heated demonstration took place at the Musso- lini Stadium during a meeting attended by the Duce and members of the Japanese mission visiting Rome.
OFFICIALS DISMISSED
Paris, To-day.
M. Lebrun, the French President, has signed an or- der dismissing many high police officials in northern France. Seven infantry co- lonels have been appointed temporary erals.
After a competition, youngsters as- sembled in the centre of the Stadium sang patriotic songs while machine- gun salvoes were fired and banners- unfurled on which was the one word "War."
Another significant measure is the official announcement that the use of private cars will be prohibited throughout Italy from June 12, Meanwhile, much concern has been
Brigadier-Gen-caused in Belgrade, and especially in the coastal districts, by Italian con- centrations in Albania, where 150,000 troops have been assembled...
General Weygand, Commander-in- Chief, is reported to be satisfied, con- fident and full of hope.
The price at which the German ad- vance has been gained is stressed in Paris; German losses have been three times those of the Allies: Reuter.
