The possibility of a German invasion of Eire is causing the war of movement is replaced by a concern to many Members of form of trench war, the blockade will Parliament, Reuter's parlia- be all the more deadly.
It is perhaps a mistake to compare the day by day ad- vance of the Germans with the campaign in 1914, for in 1914 they were able to support trench warfare for four months after the first rush had been halted. Ever since last September the block-thus they must win quickly, for if ade has been working and the Nar- vik iron ore route has been closed, while the Baltic sea route is open only five months in the year with limited dock facilities and will not be enough. Moreover, the Germans are con- suming materials at a tremendous rate and even if the entire Rumanlan oll production should fall without a hitch Into German hands, it may be doubted if this production would suffice for more than a short perlod in this vigorous war.

GERMANY BURNING UP HER RESERVES
London, To-day.
Information just reaching London shows that Allied economic war is having a marked effect on Germany, in some respects even greater than was thought possible..
This is believed to be the reason for Hitler's gamble on the Western Front. He cannot see how to survive another winter.
The harvests in Germany, Russia and the Balkans have been bad, be- cause of the severe winter and flood- ing. The Danish crop is fairly poor and nearly one-fifth the cattle will have to be killed owing to the lack of feeding stocks.
The agricultural industry is facing disaster.
Foot-and-mouth disease is rampant all over Germany, and vaccines to deal with it cannot be obtained. There is a labour shortage, in agriculture.
Drawing On Reserves Germany is believed to be consum- ing petrol at nearly twice the rate of supply, and is now drawing on her reserves.
Oll-tank wagons are being moved from Rumania for use on the Western Front, with a resulting reduction in Germany's importing capacity from the Balkans.

Thus the Italians may well hesitate, mentary correspondent for they know that although England learns. may be bombarded, and although the German advance seems and may be irresistible, this is the type of war the Allies have not only expected but the war for which they felt themselves prepared.-Reuter.
The question was discussed at a meeting of Conservative members last night, when it was decided to ask the Premier to receive a deputation to discuss the matter.

For a tall cold drink that is really
reshing and satisfying
try Hennessy-and-soda. For generations it has been a standby in the tropics. The exquisite.flavour and smoothness of Three-Star Hennessy and the effervescence of the soda unite to form a beverage that is a delightfully pleasant answer to the enervati heat.
