“Y” WIN TWO BADMINTON MATCHES

At the European Y.M.C.A., the Y.M.C.A. team beat the Jewish

Club representatives by games .5 to 4.

YESTERDAY'S “C” DIVISION League tennis matches proved disappointing in that all of the winning teams show- ed such marked superiority over their opponents that in-stands that tennis exhibitions men's badminton terest were lacking, in most cases, after the first round had will be held this afternoon, W. Gillies and E. Zulauf (Y.). been completed.

probably at Hong Kong Cric-beat L. Landau and S. Ramler ... 21-10 ket Club, when the visiting beat J. Odell and B. Godkin Philippines stars will be seen ink action against Hong beat Landau and Ramler Kong's best.

One fact is now fairly certain, how- ever, that is that the eventual cham- ¡pions will come from one of two clubs -South China and Chinese Recrea- :tion Club,

The performance of the latter team yesterday was particularly impressive as they beat Kowloon Tong, strong challengers last year, for the loss of only a set and a half.

GOOD NEWCOMER Most impressive pair were Marsland Ma and T. C. Chan, who were in splen- did form to win all three sets. Ma is -well-known as a Colony tournament player, while Chan, a recent arrival from Java, is a polished player who was the outstanding man in the team.

Luk Chung-cheong and Pang Oi-lam winning three sets by default, beat Univer

sity by 632 sets by 21⁄2. also combined very well and only drop- ped half a point.

Kowloon Tong were no match for C.R.C. despite the fact that they in- .cluded in their team, two players who "B" had helped to beat Recreio in Division the previous day.

Recreio "B" were never able to do much against South China, aud R. M. Soares and L. G. Gosano were the only pair to win a set.

one

Central British Association put up surprisingly little resistance against Kowloon Indians and only won :set. Norman Whitley was an absen- tee from the C.B.A. team but it is unlikely that his presence would have made very much difference,"

For KIT.C., the Hussain brothers were again impressive and their fine understanding enabled them to do

pretty well as they liked.

It appears possible that the only team likely to upset either C.R.C.

or South China is K.I.T.C. Recreio "A" started well, against a useful Army team, and won convin- cingly. Gonsalves and A. E. Noronha were the most impressive Recreio palr and won all three sets.

Emberson and Duffled made a great effort for Army and did very well to win two sets.

It is probable that two singles and a double will, be played.
