MORE COMFORT IN ARMY BOOTS

London, April 8.

The standard pattern Army boot now being manufactured at the rate of 260,000 pairs weekly, compared with a yearly production of 250,000 pairs not long ago, is more comfortable than the old ammunition boot.

The Army authorities, realising the importance of ease in footwear, have made exhaustive experiments in re- cent years with more pliable leather. The weight of the boots has been re- duced and comfort increased.

Last year,

when the first Militia groups were called up for training, there were complaints of misfits. To- day a new pattern measuring-stick is in use which gives the size in length.

There are stock sizes from 2 to 13 for men, with three fittings for each size. Men with slight deformities have boots made to measure: The footwear- for women is made in sizes from 2 to 8.
