TWO-DAY WAR COUNCIL MEETING IN PARIS

London, To-day.

IT IS OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED that the eighth meeting of the Supreme War Council was held in Paris on Monday and Tuesday, Britain being represented by Mr. Neville Chamberlain, Lord Halifax, Mr. Winston Churchill and Sir Samuel Hoare, accompanied by Sir Ronald Campbell, Sir Alexander Cadogan, Sir Cyril Newall, Sir Dudley Pound, and Sir Edmund Ironside. France was represented by M. Paul Reynaud, M. Daladier, M. Campinchi, M. Laurent Eynac, accompanied by M. Alexis Leger, M. Baudouin, General Gamelin, Admiral Darlan, General Vuillemin, M. Corbin and General Koeltz.

CLEAR HINT TO ITALY

Paris, To-day.

Poland was represented by General Sirkarski and M. Zaleski, and Norway by M. Bachke, the Norwegian Minis- ter in Paris.

There was a general exchange of views, Con all political and, military problems requiring the close atten- tion of the Allied Governments at

timely fulfilment of undertakings by the Allies and the common defence of their interests against any hostile action.

New Decisions.

After having considered all ques- tions relating to the general conduct of the war, the Council reached new decisions designed to guarantee effec- tive co-operation in all circumstances of the Allies.

General Sirkorski assured the Coun- cil of the determination with which the Polish Government, ́ ́Army and people would continue the struggle with all their resources which are at this moment in process of active re- organisation and development.

The Council expressed great appre- ciation of the spirit inspiring these efforts and welcomed the effective contribution Poland is making to the common cause.

Norway's Heroism:

M. Paul Reynaud, Mr. Neville Chamberlain and General Sirkorski invited M. Bachke to express to his Government their admiration for the heroic resistance to the invader by the people of Norway under the in- spiring leadership of King Haakon.

M. Bachke conveyed the thanks of his. Government for the speed and effectiveness of the help given Nor- way by the Allied Governments.
