BRITISH TROOPS RETAKE HAMAR

Electrifying Appearance In Southern Norway

STOCKHOLM, TO-DAY.

CIRCUMSTANTIAL REPORTS AGREE THAT BRITISH TROOPS HAVE MADE AN ELECTRIFYING APPEARANCE IN SOUTHERN NORWAY · AND ́ARE OCCUPYING FRONT LINE POSITIONS IN THE ELVERUM-HAMAR SECTOR. An unconfirmed report reaching Stockholm states that the British forces

have recaptured Hamar, which fell to German attack on Friday.

The reports of the recapture of Hamar are given

with reserve, but they follow a Norwegian offi- HEGRA

cial announcement that British troops are in the line.

The troops are equipped with tanks and other heavy armament and are reported to have come partly by rail and partly by road.

Colonel Weiss, the German com- mander at Trondheim, is reported to be make hurried preparations to meet Allied attacks from north and south, in a gigantic pincer movement.

Namsos Fighting
