LIFEBOAT RESCUES
London, To-day. The month of March was the quietest since the war began for the lifeboat service but the busiest March as compared with that month in other years in the history of the service.

Charles Percival Archer, of Tung Shan Hotel, Connaught Road West, was summoned before Mr. H. Sheldon, K. C., for giving false in- formation to the keeper of the hotel on December 8.
He gave his name as Jimmy Mur- phy when entering up the register of the hotel, ** **

FATAL RIDE
ON TRICYCLE
A 23-year-old shop foki, Li Kan, was before Mr. H. G. Sheldon, K.C., this morning, charged with driving a tricycle without due care and caution.
Traffic Inspector F. J. Clarke told
the Court that at about 9.30 a.m. -on Monday, defendant rode a tricycle down Tai Hang Road, with another foki sitting in front, at a terrific speed. The tricycle eventually went over an embankment. Defendant managed to get off, but the man in front went down the hillside. He was sent to the Queen Mary Hospital and died short- ly after admission.
Defendant was fined $20 month's hard labour.
On Monday, when she was going to work with a friend, Li So, she' again met the defendant in Kennedy Town. She told her friend about the incident and was advised to report to the police.
On her arrival home the same day, she told her husband,

Wong Chun-hing, employed by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, her husband,
told the Court that he arrested the defendant at 3.30 p.m. yesterday. When defendant was searched, an iron hook was found concealed in his girdle.
Defendant was sentenced to nine months' hard labour, and recommend- ed for banishment. .
