ON THE FIRST EASTER MONDAY OF THE WAR CROWDS OF HOLI- DAY-MAKERS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY FLOCKED TO THE SEA- SIDE BY TRAIN; HIKERS THRONG- ED THE COUNTRYSIDE AND CY- CLISTS FILLED THE ROADS.

ELECTION APATHY IN CANADA
Ottawa, To-day. Canada goes to the polls to-day after what is general- ly regarded as the dullest and most placid election cam- paign in Canadian history.

French Canada's vote has remained questionable despite the Liberals' great provincial victory in Quebec last year. The Liberals have not enun- ciated a very clear-cut programme but have requested a mandate for five years based on their record.
The opposition Conservatives have been content with attacking the Gov- ernment's past performance and ad- vancing rather vague proposals for changes if they win.
The Liberals are"
