FORECAST ON THE PROSPECTS IN WAR

New York, To-day. THE SCRIPPS-HOWARD syndicate summarises an article in "Foreign Affairs" by Professor Randt, formerly of Berlin University and now of Stan- ford University.

Germany, says the professor, is "blockade-proof" for at least two years if the present type of war con- tinues; Russia will not be of very much help she cannot fill her own needs and both her own and Germany's railway systems would be unable to fulfil any such large-scale movement of oil.

Onl may be the Nazi's "Achilles" heel." Merely, on the score of ofl Germany is incapable of conducting full-scale land operations over an extended period.

The professor's conclusion is that much depends on the nature of the war ahead. If the Allies play Ger- many's' sit-down game the contest may last a long time; nevertheless, Ger- many will lose in the end.
