CESSFORD IN WINNING SHANGHAI 7
Shanghai, March 9.-With Aucott at times playing an inspired game at the Race Course yesterday afternoon in the final tie of the Seven-A-Side series and being well supported by the other members of his team, Club 1st VII had little difficulty in taking the measure of Club 3rd VII by three goals and a try (18 points) to a try (3 points) to gain the coveted Welch Cup.

The Club junior side put up great battle and in the earlier stages of the play held a marked territor- ial advantage, but poor finishing and lock of thrust spoiled numerous promising attempts to break through whereas, on the other hand, the sen- iors scored nearly every time they broke away. In the second half 1st VII adopted the proper tactics by kicking ahead and allowing their speedy backs to chase after the elu- sive ball with excellent results.

The Association had Forrow at left —an unusual position for him half but he did well there. In fact there was little wrong with the-defence, in which all the players did their share. The winners combined well al-

Aucott fared splendidly, his great pace, swerving form and played a extremely useful and side-stepping resulting in num-game, always keeping a close watch erous points. Martin, Dickinson and on Hau Ching-to. Cessford all did well, while for the losers Chadwick and Whaley show- ed up best. Chadwick played a very brainy game, but his outsides were not as fast as those of the sen- fors and this lack of speed made all the difference between victory and
defeat.

The Secret Of A Contented Mind.
It has been well said that the secret of a contented mind is congenial work, but there is a clause which must be added.... and good health for without this blessing, peace of mind is indeed hard to obtain.
Good health, depends primarily upon the condition of the blood, which in turn depends upon sunshine, fresh air, good food and regular exercise to build up the red corpuscles and maintain the supply of haemoglobin, the sub- stance in the blood which carries oxygen from the air we breathe and iron nutriment from the food, digest- ed to nourish every cell of the body.
Chan Tak-fai was the most danger- ous forward while Lai Shui-wing sup- plied all the passes.
Hau Ching-to and Cheong Yung- below form sum, the wingers, were

THE PLAY
The Association were favoured with a strong wind in the first half and Leonard missed when well placed. Before the interval Chan Tak-fai placed the Chinese in the lead with a good goal.
In the second period the Chinese went further ahead through Chan Tak-fai and it seemed as all was over, but the Association rallied well and soon reduced the arrears through Fox. The same player placed the As- sociation on level terms shortly after. He missed putting the Association in the lead when he struck the upright.
Hon. Mr. N. L. Smith, president of Association, presented the cup to Leung Wing-chul at the conclusion of the game.
