At the moment of going to press, a large fire is rapidly destroying the Kwong Sang Hong warehouse at 282 Hennessy Road, Wanchai, and is endangering the I.C.I. storeroom next door. The heat within is terrific and the walls are cracking, the top portion of the building having already col- lapsed.
All available fire engines are on the scene, and the police are holding back large crowds; the tram service has been interrupted. Dense smoke is. covering the entire area and the fumes of the burning contents- mostly chemicals for manufactur- ing perfumes-are Alling the air. Every now and then a small ex- plosion occurs, after which the flames shoot up with increased vigour.
A few minutes before 3.30 p.m. the warehouse collapsed, falling onto the I.C.I. store-house, around, which flames driven by the wind had already started licking. Fall- ing debris also. snapped an over- head tram wire, but the repair unit of the Tramways, on the spot, have started to fix it.
All shops in the neighbourhood have been ordered to close their
doors, while the dense yellow fumes have driven the crowds back.
So far as is known, no-one was in the storehouse, which is be- lieved to contain spirits of am- monia and various inflammable chemicals. The building is a 3- storey affair, built in 1920.

London, To-day.
There is still no news of the atti- tude of the Finnish Diet to the peace terms signed in Moscow and it seems highly probable that a violent debate is in progress.
Should the Finnish Diet reject the peace terms, Britain will make new representations to Sweden to facilitate the passage of aid to Finland, in- formed circles state.
Sweden will be asked to modify the ban against the passage of troops and equipment through its territory. The request will be made, under the sanc- tions provision of the Covenant of the League of Nations.
Finnish circles in London make no secret of their delight at Mr. Chamber- lain's promise to send effective help if it is asked for.. His speech will have a vital bearing on the Diet discussion, they say, and might lead to a change in the Prime Ministership.-Havas.
Macao, To-day.. Conscript labour is being used by the Japanese military to repair the Macao-Shekki highway which was torn up by the Chinese.
The name of the "puppet" Magistrate at Shek-ki has not yet been disclosed, and it is reported that the Japanese are planning to occupy Wantsai Island, opposite Macao.
Sovereignty over this island has never been settled between the Portuguese and "Chinese authori- ties, and speculation is rife regard- ing what action the Portuguese au- thorities will take in the event of an attempt by the Ja- panese to occupy the island.—Our -- Own Correspondent.
