MEAT RATIONING RESENTMENT IN LONDON

March 11th.

In the meantime there has been in the last few days a certain disorganisation of supplies espe-. cially in the London and Home Counties areas which has arisen from the difficulties which butchers have experienced in adjusting their normal buying procedure to the prevailing con- ditions.

Thus, although there is no shortage of meat in the country as whole, in a few areas the consumers have not been able to get supplies because the shops have refused to accept the al- location of the local food authorities. The temporary difficulties, which the Food Ministry believes will be quickly overcome when the trade has accustomed itself to the new con- ditions, arise from two main causes.
