NO COMPROMISE POSSIBLE, SAYS MR. ANTHONY EDEN

London, To-day.

MR. ANTHONY EDEN, Secretary for the Domin- ions, yesterday described the Empire Air Train- ing scheme as an unparallelled effort, both in conception and in execution.

He stressed the value of the parallel scheme in Southern Rhodesia and South Africa, which was over and above the Canadian scheme.

As a result of the Empire scheme, a stream of pilots, observers and gun crews would be pouring out, to be numbered not in thousands but in tens of thousands.

The breathing space they had had in this war had been of utmost value. These months had helped to forge weapons and when those weapons are forged they will have to be used until Hitlerism and the International Gansterdism for which it stood are entirely destroyed.

There must be no compromise, for that would only mean greater dangers in a few years or even, months,

THE FABLE

Ribbentrop, he said, often told him of the dangers of Bolshevism and said that if it were not for the "Nazi St. George," the Red Dragon would have swamped Britain. That fable was related in many different forms by the Germans.

"But what has happened now?" asked Mr. Eden. "The Red Dragon has taken the Nazi St. George for a ride!"!

LAST PHASE

Mr. Eden said that the respite this autumn and winter had been most valuable to us for our preparations, and added: "There is in that no cause for complacency but even danger if we forget the vital lesson that in war victory in the last phase means defeat of the enemy.

AUSTRALIA AS A GREAT AIR POWER.

Sydney, To-day. Australia is fast becoming a great air power, secure from any attack, it was announced yesterday. Under the Empire scheme, the 'planes of the Royal Australian Air Force are being increased seven-fold.

The Australian Cabinet yesterday appointed a Commission to supervise local production and maintenance aircraft.-Reuter.

"LIFE AND DEATH STRUGGLE"

Mr. Eden said: "This is a life and death struggle with a remorseless foe. Let us have no illusion about that. The Nazi system and all it stands for must go. There must be an end to the era of broken faith and political perjury must be shown to have had its day. If there is to be any future for the human race the Nazi system must go.
