SHOTS FIRED AT MYSTERY CRAFT

Three rifle shots were yesterday fired at a mys- terious motor-boat which attempted to go along side a naval oil-tanker, at the Kowloon Naval Dock- yard.

An attempt to follow the boat, which disappeared in the direction of Yaumati, was made by Indian Con- stable Mir Dad (No. 197) who after failing to obtain an answer to his shots at the challenge, fired the motor-boat.

At 2.30 a.m. yesterday while on duty, the Indian constable saw the boat approaching the oil-tanker which was berthed alongside the jetty.

He challenged the boat but no reply was given. As the boat con- tinued on, he fired thres shots at it, the fast hitting and putting out the bow light.

The boat then turn round and made off in the direction of Yaumati.

The constable attempted to follow it on foot but was unsuccessful.

The authorities have not yet been able to trace the boat, the colour of which was said to be blue.

NAZIS AGAIN WARN NEUTRALS

The Hague, To-day.

A warning to neutrals not to accept British navicerts was issued by the German |Legation here yesterday.

Allies

The Nazi statement runs: "Through the system of navicerts the are trying to involve neutrals in the

war.

"Some neutrals seem to be toying with the idea that it may be ad- vantageous to them to accept the system and thereby keep their ships out of the danger zone.

"But if they accept the system the German Government would find it- self faced with a new situation in which it would act with energy.
