Laughter greeted a statement In the House of Commons yes- terday by the Air Minister, Sir Kingsley Wood, to the effect

that the boxer, Tommy Farr, was released from military duty be- cause he was found on medica! examination to be below the re- quired standard.

When it was suggested that Farr must be fit, because he was already staging a £20,000 purse fight for the heavyweight cham- plonship of the world, Sir Kings- sley Wood reiterated that Farr was not up to the required stan- dards of the services.-Reuter.
