ANY SIGNS OF A FINNISH WEAKENING AT ANY POINT.

It is officially denied that the Mannerheim Line has been breached at any point. During four attacks on Thursday, the Soviets lost 700 men in an attack on the Line in the Karelian Isthmus.

Further north, another Soviet Divi- sion is in difficulties, and this is be- two lleved to be the explanation for Soviet attempts to cross the frontier a little further north again.

Neutral correspondents on the Arc- the tic Front report that here, too, Finns are more than holding their own and have even re-taken some ground.

SAME MODEL

The new attacks on Punnusjoki and Pasuri followed the model of the Summa fighting, with a long artillery preparation, then bombing and ma- chine-gunning of the Finnish Unes from the air and finally a land attack by tanks and infantry.

The front along the Talpale River has been quiet for some time, and it is an indication of the magnitude of the

Helsinki, To-day. Although the Russians are con- ed. tinuing their attacks on Finland's many fronts the Mannerheim Line is still holding out, even at Summa, which has always been regarded as its most vulnerable spot.

For the eleventh successive day the battle continues around Kuhmo, where another Russian division is be- lieved to be in difficulties.
