LOYALUS

ARAB LOYALTY TO ALLIED CAUSE

Manama, To-day.

A VIGOROUS STATEMENT of loyalty to the Allied cause has come from-Bahrein, in the Persian Gulf, which has been in treaty relations with the Government of India since 1820,

In a speech on Thursday on the occasion of the seventh an- niversary of his Accession, the Sheikh of Bahrein said that one single man had set the world alight and caus- ed this outbreak of war. That man is Hitler. "The Arabs," he said, "are a demo- critic people by religion and nature. They are ranged on the side of the de- mocracies against Hitler and his like.”}

Bahrein had for nearly 150 years been on terms of friendship with Britain. Britain had brought peace and security to the Persian Gulf and had protected Arablan relations without taking from them their independence.

"We declare that Britain's war is our war," he concluded, "and until victory comes all that we have is at the disposal of the British Govern- ment."--Reuter.

He added that he was checking with his ammunition control advisers what properly could be considered surplus supplies.-Reuter.
