The Japanese, it is reported, will in return refuse to carry any more Germans of military age on Japanese ships, while Britain will undertake not to search Japanese ships.-Reuter.

Statistics compiled by the Wai- young Commercial Association disclose that 5,602 persons lost their homes in the fire which razed Shek Kip Mei Village in Sham- shuipo to the ground last Satur- day morning.
The Association is helping to care for the homeless by distri- buting food and warm clothing.
Arrangements are being made by the local authorities to house the homeless in the refugee camps.

Tokyo, To-day. Actuated by a desire to reach amicable settlement of the "Asama Maru" case, the British Government, in a Note yesterday, agreed to surrender to the Japan- ese Government nine of the Ger- man taken off the liner at a date and place to be mutually agreed.
The Foreign Minister revealed this in the House of Peers to-day, adding that the Japanese Govern- ment "is not satisfied by the partial surrender and will con- tinue to demand delivery of the other 12 Germans." Reuter.
There were 15 deaths from smallpox in the Colony last week, when 21 cases were notified, 14 in Kowloon, five from the har- bour and two in Victoria. There were a further six cases yester- day, live from Kowloon and one from the harbour.
