TUFFY

CHINN IN BEST FORM

(By "GRANDSTAND”)

In the only game played on the C.B.A. ground last Sun- day Chung Hwa did not have any trouble in disposing of Kenny Wong's English Foru- mers to the tune of 5-0.

Tuffy Chinn was in tip-top form on the mound for Chung Hwa. He almost

hurled a no-run, no-hit game, but

Cece Winglee came through with a. fluke bingle in the sixth frame to re- gister Forum's only hit and to mar Tuffy's no-hit performance.

RUTHIAN CLOUT

BY ROZY LUONGO: MARGARET OLIVEIRA NOW USING GLOVE VERY WELL

(By “GRANDSTAND”)

IN A RETURN TILT Wahoos again lowered the boom on the Ramblerettes to take the long end of a 10-4 count.

Therese Noronha's twirling was not up to the mark, but her benders were effective enough to hold the Rambling femmes to eight hits. She fanned three and gave one free pass to the first station. Anna Noronha opposed her sister- in-law on the mound and worked hard on the rubber, but her efforts were only good for one strike-out. She walked one and permitted 10 hits including a Ruthian clout by Rozy Luongo in the third canto.

Recreio miscued four times, two of, teammates connected for twenty blows which were bungled by Olga Ribeiro off Grandma Hutchinson. at the hot corner. Wahoos only boot- ed twice, one each by Paula Chan at the keystone and Rozy Luongo at the centre cabbage patch.

Ulian Khoo clouted a round-tripper for the only long-distance hit of the fray.

Besides pitching a good game Mary Louie topped the batting list with four singles is as many times at bat. For the Cubs Eva took batting honours with two hits of the three made by

Margaret Oliveira just about re- deemed those seven errors she made in two previous games in taking six chances against the green-shirted owls without an error. I noticed that Mar- garet is now using a glove and mak- ing good use of it.

Maudie Steers Pirates To Deserved Win

The nightcap saw Maudie Rend's Pirates pounce on the lowly Panthers for a 19-14 win.

Maudie distinguished herself on the hillock, fanning four and walking three. She allowed Panthers only five hits. Celeste Marques struck out two and gave away no less than nine Annle Oakleys.

Some heavy hitting was witnessed in this tussle. Mary Penson and Lelia Xavier both homered, while Paddy Seats and Iris Stone tripled. Maudle Read rapped two doubles.

"Grandma” Hutchinson, who pitch- ed a wonderful game the previous Sunday, was helpless on the slab. She had difficulty in locating the plate to walk twelve, creating a new high in local softball. She whiffed three.
